Hawaii

On the second day of creation God separated the heavens from the earth and declared that it was good. He was right. Day 2s are good! Yesterday was my second day in Hawaii, and it was a very good day, the kind of day where good things happen when you don’t think they will. You know when you get a really good workout how you are always more sore on the second day than you were on the first? Well, second days have become like that for me, except in a good way, when I think the first day is good the second day becomes even better. The last time I was in Hawaii on my second day, I got a surprise helicopter ride for my 21st birthday. It was amazing and something I never will forget. My one tiny regret is that I forgot my camera battery and have no pictures by which to remember the day. Still, even with that blonde-moment mistake I still remember that day as perfect. The exhilaration of something new, the excitement, the trust and gratitude I held for my brother. It was Hawaii, It was a helicopter ride, It was like I said, perfection. Well, yesterday was my second day in Hawaii again, and somehow, miraculously, it matched up to perfection. It was arrival day here on the YWAM base, and for those of you who have read my previous posts, I did not trip! Accomplishment enough I know, but it gets even better. The helicopter school Aaron, my brother, works for was shooting a professional helicopter video and I was allowed to tag along with my camera to the shooting site. It was amazing! The video was to show an R44 helicopter lifting up some barrels with a rope (I want to say that this is called a drop load or something similar but forgive me for my helicopter lingo ignorance).

While the R44 lifted up and set down its load, an R22 helicopter circled with a camera, and we, the spectators, got to watch from right below. AMAZING! Seriously, it was amazing! I even got another helicopter ride and to make up for past regrets I made sure I had my camera battery.

You should be hearing top gun music in your head right about now

To sum it up day 2 was better than good, it was great. I had a blast, took lots of pictures, registered with YWAM, and moved in with my 7, YES 7, roomates. I will give another update soon but I am late for lunch. Love you all!
